We get lots of requests asking if we can accept various unwanted items. For items not on this list, please email and ask before leaving at the kennels as any items we cannot use will need to be disposed of at our cost.

Generally, we CAN use:

 

For our dogs

• Specific brands of dog food, unopened and in date. Please do not be offended if we turn down some foodstuffs. Our dogs are fed a strict diet in order to keep them fit and healthy and we do not accept donations of raw hide based treats.
• Dog toys that are in “as new” condition
• Newspapers. Our dogs aren’t quite clever enough to read, but a good layer of fresh newspaper on the kennel floor every day ensures they stay dry and comfortable
• Shredded paper (strips, not cross-cut). This makes great safe bedding for those dogs prone to chewing and ingesting fabric bedding.
• Small fleece-type blankets that wash and dry easily
• Some unused and in-date medications but please contact us before you deliver

 

For fundraising purposes

• Dog treats that are unopened and in date but no raw hide please
• Dog toys in as-new condition
• Dog items – collars, leads, coats etc – that are in as-new condition that can be sold
• Raffle prizes
• As-new items that can be used for prizes at fundraising events: soft toys, candles, stationery, confectionery, toiletries, alcohol, etc
• Cakes when we are running our own fun dog shows
• Items that can feature in our auctions
• Items that we can sell on eBay

We have to pay to have waste removed from our site so please do not be offended if we refuse your donations.

 

We CANNOT use:

• Duvets, pillows, cushions or any item of bed linen
• Food or water bowls
• Any kind of foodstuff that is opened or beyond its ‘use by’ date
• Toys that have been previously chewed
• Rawhide treats
• Large collections of books and DVDs
• Any item not in a clean, undamaged, saleable condition
